Body found in box on side of Md. highway
State police say highway workers found a body in a box on the side of Interstate 70 in Frederick County.
Police say state highway maintenance workers in Frederick discovered the box around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday sitting on a wooded embankment, barely visible off the shoulder of the highway.
Police say no identification was found on the adult body, which was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy and identification.
While the cause of death is undetermined, state police homicide detectives are investigating. Police say they don’t know yet how long the body was on the side of the highway.
Police spokeswoman Elena Russo says details about the box itself are not being disclosed to avoid compromising the investigation.
