Montgomery County police are investigating a suspicious death in Silver Spring as a homicide.
Police got a report of an injured man in the 800 block of University Avenue East shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, said Capt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman.
Responding officers found a 25-year-old man in an alleyway suffering from trauma to his upper body.
Officers tried to resuscitate the man before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not yet released the dead man's identity beyond saying he was Hispanic.
Anyone with information is asked to call 240-773-5070.

I am saddened when I see how much worse an already=fringe area of Takoma/Silver Spring has become over the past 20 years. The Piney Branch/Carrol Ave./Quebec Terrace are was never "nice" in my lifetime, but when I go by there now, I am depressed by how it has become a very run-down barrio-type area. And Langley Park doesn't even feel like the same place anymore.
