Boy dies after watercraft crash in bay
Maryland authorities say an 11-year-old Pennsylvania boy injured in a personal watercraft accident has died from his injuries.
Maryland Natural Resources Police spokesman Sgt. Art Windemuth said Tuesday that Joseph Daniels of York, Pa., was injured in a crash on Irish Creek in the Royal Oak area in Talbot County on July 3. Windemuth says Daniels died July 12 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Natural Resources Police were called to Irish Creek on July 3 after a personal watercraft struck a stopped personal watercraft. Police say the operator who allegedly struck Daniel's craft is 12 years old.
It is illegal in Maryland for anyone younger than 16 years old to operate a personal watercraft and Windemuth says police are proceeding with an investigation of the incident.
