Burtonsville man arrested in Takoma Park
A 28-year-old Burtonsville man has been arrested and faces several charges including felony possession of a firearm, Takoma Park Police announced Wednesday.
Chief Ronald A. Ricucci said on Aug. 22, at approximately 11:48 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on the 7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue for equipment failure. When they asked to inspect the vehicle, the driver, Derick Nathaniel Lewis, denied their request, Ricucci said.
A K-9 narcotic dog examined the exterior of the vehicle and alerted officers to issues in three locations. A search of the vehicle revealed small amounts of marijuana residue, as well as an unloaded .380 caliber Bersa, which was concealed in a sock in a plastic bag in the trunk of the vehicle. Lewis was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Procession Unit.
