Fatal hit and run in Hyattsville
Hyattsville and Prince George's County authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and run that occurred around 2:21 a.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of 38th Ave. in Hyattsville.
Police responded to a call for a pedestrian struck and found Wilber Ramirez, 18, of the 8200 block of Flower Ave. in Takoma Park, lying unconscious in the roadway. Prince George's County fire and EMS officials pronounced Ramirez dead at the scene.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed Rameriz was trying to cross 38th Ave. and was struck by an unknown vehicle in the southbound portion of the roadway. The vehicle continued southbound on 38th Ave. without stopping.
