Firefighters battle blaze in Md. park
Nearly 70 firefighters and park officials are working to contain a blaze in a wooded area of a western Maryland national park.
Firefighters from Frederick, Loudoun and Washington counties were on the scene of a fire in the C & ONational Historic Park near Point of Rocks in Washington County. They were joined by National Park Service officials in fighting the fire which involved about 5 acres of parkland.
Officials said they first began battling the blaze Wednesday afternoon about 4 p.m. and worked until after 10 p.m. to try and contain the fire. They began working to put out the fire again Thursday morning about 5 a.m.
