The Frederick County government says it is laying off 23 workers and eliminating 79 more jobs to balance its budget, The Frederick News Post reports.
The county commissioners announced the reductions Thursday.
Board President Jan Gardner says the moves will trim $5.7 million from the county's budget.
She says the 79 positions that are being cut are either vacant or won't be filled after the people holding them retire.
