Frederick fire destroys barn, kills lambs

By Associated Press

A fast-spreading blaze that forced firefighters to haul in water on tanker trucks has destroyed a barn and killed several lambs in Frederick County.

Lt. Charles Green, deputy fire marshal for the county's division of fire and rescue services, says the fire destroyed the 100-foot-long barn on a farm on Cap Stine Road Monday evening.

Chief Fire Marshal Marc McNeal says the fire spread so quickly that firefighters weren't able to attack it from the inside. Fire companies also had to haul in water to the property because there is no fire hydrant on the farm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
