Frederick man's death ruled accidental drowning
Frederick County authorities say the death of a New Market man found near the base of the Lake Linganore dam about two weeks ago has been ruled an accidental drowning.
Sheriff's Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said Tuesday the state medical examiner also found that 24-year-old Morgan Platt had a head injury consistent with a fall.
Bailey says Platt told family members on March 3 he was planning a bus trip to a California or Florida. She says investigators were told Platt would often take a shortcut past the dam when walking to the bus station in Frederick.
Bailey says a witness saw Platt near the dam on the morning of March 4.
Two fishermen spotted his body in the water on March 10.
