ICC contractors hit gas line; traffic affected

By Washington Post editors

A sub contractor working on New Hampshire Avenue as part of the Intercounty Connector project inadvertently struck a gas line shortly before noon Friday, Maryland State Highway officials say.

New Hampshire Avenue is currently closed between Bonifant and Good Hope roads to the north and Randolph Road to the south. Traffic is being detoured to Randolph Road, Bonifant Road and Layhill Road. A portion of the highway is likely to be closed through the evening rush hour.

Utility repair crews are on site working to repair the gas line. Repairs are expected to last through most of the evening rush hour.
