Officials have opened a criminal investigation into the firing of a tear gas canister during a demonstration that resulted in a Potomac woman losing an eye, NBC 4 reported.
Emily Henochowicz, a 21-year-old student studying abroad, attended a demonstration May 31 at the West Bank checkpoint at Qalandia. She was struck in the face by a canister fired by Israeli security forces. She lost her left eye, and her jaw and cheekbone were fractured.
