Maryland may allow more crossbow hunting
Maryland wildlife managers are considering letting hunters use crossbows for a wider variety of game.
The mechanized devices currently are limited to deer, bear and turkey, except for disabled hunters who can't draw a bowstring.
The Department of Natural Resources said Sunday it's considering allowing crossbows for hunting any species that can be legally shot with a conventional bow. That includes rabbits, squirrels and certain game birds.
The Maryland Bowhunters Society says it opposes lumping crossbows in with vertical bows because the weapons are so different. The group says crossbow users should have to pay an additional fee to hunt more species.
Maryland has allowed crossbow hunting by able-bodied hunters since 2003.

What a cruel and horrible way to die. And for what? To satisfy the savage desires of people who have a low regard for life and enjoy injuring animals.
