Maryland records 45th swine flu death
Maryland has recorded its 45th death from swine flu.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says it reported the death of an adult from the Baltimore area to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday. The death occurred within the last week.
Before that, the state hadn’t seen a swine flu death since February.
On Thursday, the health department announced a schedule of more than 150 free swine-flu vaccination clinics next week.
Department secretary John M. Colmers says the death is a reminder that the virus is still around and dangerous.
The CDC said earlier this week that three southeastern states are seeing a resurgence of swine flu this spring.
