Md. Del. D. Page Elmore dies
SALISBURY, Md. -- The family of Republican Del. D. Page Elmore says he has died. He was 71.
Family members say Elmore died Saturday after battling a recurring cancer. He was being treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
The family says that District 38A has "lost a remarkable man" who was a loving husband, father and grandfather. They say he dedicated the last eight years to providing farmers, watermen and others with a strong voice in Annapolis.
Elmore, who served as chairman of the Eastern Shore Delegation, had announced last week that he would not seek a third term representing his Lower Eastern Shore district.
In a statement, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said Elmore served the people of the Eastern Shore honorably and his service in the House of Delegates will be missed.
