Md. man's body went through compactor

By Washington Post editors

Baltimore police say a man found dead in a trash bin at a downtown high-rise came down the trash chute and went through the trash compactor.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says workers found the body Thursday morning in one of the trash bins at the Park Charles building in the 200 block of North Charles Street. Guglielmi says it's clear the body went through the trash chute and the compactor at the 26-story apartment building with office space on the first few floors.

Guglielmi says the man's death is being investigated as suspicious, but police don't know yet whether the man was killed or his death was accidental. He says police are waiting for the Office of the Medical Examiner to arrive before they move the body.

The coroner wasn't in, so they just slid his body through the mail slot.
