MoCo planning board acting chair named
Marye Wells-Harley will serve as acting chairman of Montgomery County's planning board for two weeks to allow newly appointed chairman Francoise Carrier to wrap up work as the county's chief hearing examiner.
Wells-Harley is vice-chairman of the five-member planning board, which oversees the county's $100 million parks and planning agencies. Harley, a Silver Spring resident, is a retired director of the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation.
Carrier said on Monday that she will begin work at the planning agency June 28. She is working to complete a report to the County Council analyzing the proposed expansion of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda before moving into her new job.
Planning board Chairman Royce Hanson steps down at the end of this week, which marks the end of his four-year term.
