Brentwood mayor under scrutiny

By Washington Post editors

Officials in Brentwood say the mayor of the Maryland town has charged thousands of taxpayer dollars to an unauthorized debit card and did not disclose the charges to her fellow council members for the past 11 months, the Washington Examiner reports.

Mayor Xzavier Montgomery-Wright, along with town Treasurer Orson Carter, have made more than 50 "questionable" charges -- including personal cellphone calls and a plane ticket -- using a debit card they opened in January 2010 without notifying other council members, according to council woman Marlene Robinson, who reported the charges during a recent council meeting.

To read more about the allegations go to the Washington Examiner.

Does this have anything to do with the murder of Ronald Christian Heskee?

The Mayor, and Councilmembers Nina Young, and Jeffrey Clark have been involved in questionable activities for the past year. The three had meetings where votes were cast to rehire Police Chief Risik's "new" contract with $10K increase and excluded Councilmembers Harrison and Robinson. When asked in a public meeting how this could happen, Nina Young replied, oh, it was an "oversight" Orson Carter, Town Treasurer, did not act as a "gatekeeper" for the Town of Brentwood, but worked hand-in-hand with the Mayor to deceive the Brentwood residents. The disbursement sheets and budget were riddled with obvious errors and often he would be sent from an ongoing public meeting to correct these errors. Nina Young, Jeffrey Clark voted at least 90% of the time with the Mayor. The Mayor and Police chief were caught lying about the speed camera tickets during a certain timeframe and had to refund all tickets incurred during a designated period -- no one was on duty to write tickets in that time period but 2000+ tickets were electronically signed. Opto-traffic fined the Town over $90K for this violation. Friends of the mayor were constantly being provided contracts with these contracts having to be competed without being competed. Grants were won to provide police equipment even when the town did not have police cars for all of the police equipment. There has yet to be a reconciled budget and the Mayor, Nina Young, and Jeffrey Clark tried to extract the police department budget from the overall town budget until a resident stated that it was illegal to do so without a public hearing. The Town of Brentwood residents welcome an external audit to uncover wrongdoing in unauthorized charges, and non-compliance with grants and contracts.

What the article isn't telling you is that Brentwood has a problem in that its governing body of yester-year won't go away. Whenever anyone new comes along with ideas to improve the town, the former mayor, Robinson and their old cronies do anything to discredit them. The blogger above is no exception and clearly doesn't have their facts correct. Clark,Young and Wright are just the latest victims of dirty politics by the old guard, Robinson and her posse of haters. So, don't be deceived or be part of their lies.
