Potomac River boaters found safe
Frederick County authorities say three boaters were found safe on the Potomac River after they had motor trouble just as the weather turned ominous and storms moved through the area.
County Emergency Communications shift supervisor Brian Easterday says emergency crews launched a search for the boaters around 6 p.m. Sunday.
Easterday says emergency workers stayed on the phone with the boaters while crews searched the river.
He says after about 45 minutes, the three boaters — a 52-year-old man and two boys, ages 16 and 11 — were found safe and unharmed on the Virginia side of Heater's Island.
