Pr. Geo.'s police shoot man in Clinton
Updated, 7:55 p.m.
A Prince George's County police officer shot and wounded a man in the Clinton area late Friday while trying to stop an apparently stolen car, police said.
The officer spotted the car on Brandywine Road about 4:30 p.m. and tried to pull it over, police said. But, they said, the driver tried to get away and collided with an oncoming vehicle near Woodyard Road.
The officer got out of his vehicle and approached the car, but it backed up, and the officer thought he would be struck, police said. He fired a shot, wounding the driver, who was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
