By Washington Post editors

The National Weather Service says temperature records were broken Wednesday at Reagan National Airport and at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The new record at Reagan National was reached at 1:36 p.m. when the temperature hit 102 degrees. The old record for the day was 99, set in 1991. By 3 p.m. the temperature had dropped back to 99.

At BWI the new record of 101 was set at 1:46 p.m. The old record for the day was 99 set in 1993.

Temperatures at Dulles Airport reached 100 at 1:55 pm., just shy of the old record of 101 set in 1988.
