Search ends for missing D.C. swimmer
Authorities have called off the search for a man who went missing while swimming in Ocean City.
The Coast Guard ended its search about 5 p.m. Sunday after checking 895 nautical miles of ocean by boat and helicopter for 20 hours.
Ocean City Beach Patrol Capt. Butch Arbin said four men went into the water several hours after lifeguards at 20th Street had left for the evening Saturday and ran into trouble. Arbin said rescue teams and a surfer pulled three men from the water. The fourth, described as a 23-year-old Hispanic man from the District, was not found.
Jakeline Ruiz Reyes identified the missing man as her 20-year-old boyfriend, Melkes Delgado. She says Reyes is the father of their young child.
Officials say lifeguards rescued more than 250 people caught in rip currents caused by Hurricane Danielle on Saturday.

He was 20... or 23... they're not really sure because the girlfriend wasn't coherent, but it was important for them to report at least one age.
They searched for 20 hours... he went in the water at 20th street... he might have been 20 years old.

I guarded for a few years and have been a surfer for over a decade. The ocean is not to be taken lightly, especially in late August/early Sept. on the East Coast.
IF YOU CAN'T SWIM, DON'T GO IN!!!

These are not the conditions for a casual swimmer. Everyone (aside from Surfers) should stay out of the water until Saturday or Sunday. You can check the forecast for shore conditions and swell models on www.swellinfo.com. When in doubt, don't go out!

I hate the beach at Ocean City. They keep dredging it and the beach gets steeper and the rip currents get stronger. It gives beaches a bad name.

The fourth paragraph makes no sense. It also contradicts the third paragraph.
