By Mike McPhate

Update, 6:30 a.m.: Southbound I-270 has reopened.

Original post, 4:36 a.m.: Interstate 270 is blocked in both directions in the Gaithersburg area after a tractor-trailer brought down power lines.

Southbound traffic is being diverted at Route 124/Montgomery Village Road to Route 355/South Frederick Road. Northbound traffic is being diverted at Shady Grove Road to Route 355/South Frederick Road.

Utility crews are on the scene. There is no estimated time for repair, but it could extend through the morning rush hour.

Stay with Dr. Gridlock for updates.

See live traffic map.
