By Mike McPhate

About 5,700 customers in Washington and Maryland are in the dark after storms blew through the area.

At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Pepco was reporting about 3,900 outages in the region, about 2,430 of which were in Montgomery County, Md. The utility says customers were also without power in Washington and Prince George's County, Md.

Baltimore Gas & Electric was reporting about 2,550 outages in Maryland, mostly in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.
