Two brothers killed in Silver Spring crash

By Mike McPhate

Two brothers were killed when a car one of them was driving veered from the road and collided with a utility pole in Silver Spring Wednesday night, Montgomery County police said.

Idris Muhammad, 20 was driving the dark blue Nissan Sentra southbound on Layhill Road approaching Middlevale Road when the vehicle swerved over a curb and into the pole about 10:38 p.m., police said. His brother, Khalifah Muhammad, 18, was in the front passenger seat. Both were wearing seatbelts, police said.

Two other passengers sitting in the rear of the car survived, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call 301-840-2435.

They must have been going at a terrifying rate of speed in order to kill the two who were purportedly wearing seat-belts.

jabreal00 - Suprisingly, it doesn't take that much speed to prove fatal. A number of years ago, 2 students at my school were killed doing no more than 30 mph.
