Two-car accident injures four in La Plata

By Washington Post editors

Four people, including a Charles County Sheriff's officer, were injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle accident in La Plata, WUSA 9 reports.

The officer was responding to an emergency call about 6:30 p.m. As he traveled north on Washington Avenue he came upon a car attempting to make a left turn onto Shining Willow Way. As the officer tried to avoid the car he lost control, crossed the center line and hit a southbound vehicle with a woman and two children inside

The two children, under the age of 10, were flown to Children's Hospital, one in serious condition.

The woman who was driving was flown to MedStar. Her condition was unavailable.

The officer was taken to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
