Warehouse owner to rebuild after fire

By Washington Post editors

The owner of a downtown Frederick warehouse destroyed by a fire says he plans to rebuild.

Rusty Hauver, owner of General Engineering Co., says his warehouse on South Carroll Street was one of the oldest in Frederick and he's sorry to lose it.

Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Mike Dmuchowski says the fire began in a first-floor refrigerator and the cause has been ruled accidental. No one was in the building when the fire began.

The fire destroyed the warehouse, but barely damaged an office and welding shop beside the structure. Hauver hopes to set up a temporary warehouse nearby.
