Injured construction worker dies

By Erica Johnston

Update, 11:55 p.m.:

The construction worker died late Thursday night at Washington Hospital Center, Montgomery county police said.

A construction worker was critically injured Thursday when he fell from the second floor of a Laytonsville home, Montgomery county authorities said.

The man, who was not identified, fell 10 feet as his crew was erecting a second-floor wall at a new home in the 18600 block of Woodgate Place about 4:30 p.m., said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a fire department spokesman.

He was drifting in and out of consciousness and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were considered potentially life threatening, Garcia said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
