Md. man charged in tarantula theft

By Washington Post editors

A Westminster man was held in lieu of $10,000 bail on charges that he stole a pet tarantula from the Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library on Wednesday, the Carroll County Times reports.

Randy Allan Humple, 27, of the unit block of West Main Street in Westminster, was arrested Wednesday evening. He was held after a bail review hearing Thursday.

According to court records, it was Humple's third brush with Westminster police in less than a week.

He was arrested Saturday and charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a summons Tuesday on charges of rogue and vagabond theft of less than $1,000 for an alleged incident May 2, according to court records.
