Md. man sentenced in boating fatality

A 42-year-old Maryland man has been sentenced in connection with a 2009 boating accident in which a man died, the Maryland Natural Resources Police said Thursday.

Jon Randall Martins of Glen Burnie pleaded guilty to negligent homicide of a person by motor vessel while under the influence of alcohol May 20. He will serve 90 days at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

On August 30, 2009 ,while boating in Marley Creek, Martins’ vessel struck a vessel driven by Richard John Hynson, 47, also of Glen Burnie. Hynson died of his injuries. Martins had a blood alcohol content of 0.18.
