No extension for D.C. summer jobs
The D.C. Council Tuesday rejected a plan by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty to extend a summer jobs program for about 20,000 youths.
In a 9 to 2 vote, the council turned down Fenty's plan to add seven working days to the program, using $4.3 million out of a federal poverty program.
