A woman died late Sunday in a fire in an apartment house in the Dupont Circle area of Northwest Washington, the D.C. fire department said.
The smoky fire was reported about 10:30 p.m. in a four-story building in the 1700 block of S Street NW, said D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.
After being taken from the building by firefighters, the woman was pronounced dead at a hospital late Sunday night, Piringer said.
Her name was not available immediately.
