Pedestrian killed in Columbia Heights
By Debbie Wilgoren
A female pedestrian was struck by a car and killed early Monday in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Northwest Washington, police said.
The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.
Police said the woman, whose identity was not released pending notification of family, was struck shortly after 1 a.m. at the intersection of 16th Street and Park Road.
No other details were available.
Police closed 16th Street for several hours after the crash while they were investigating, but the road had reopened to traffic by 6:15 a.m.

No, Debbie, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist. The car didn't kill the pedestrian, a person did. Get it right.
