Person shot, hit at least twice in SW

By Terri Rupar

A person was shot late Friday in the Washington neighborhood where the mass shooting occurred last month.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. in the unit block of Galveston Street SW. Despite being hit at least twice and possibly more, the victim was reported to be conscious and breathing, authorities said. No additional details could be learned immediately.

The site of the shooting is near the southern tip of the city, just off South Capitol Street, and within five or six blocks of South Capitol and Atlantic Streets, where four people were fatally shot last month. One person was reported wounded on Galveston Street just before the shootings at South Capitol and Atlantic.

There was no immediate indication of any connection between the incidents.

Did anyone really think that one mass shooting would stop the shootings?

SW and SW east of the Anacostia are two completely different neighborhoods, both in demographics and location. I wish the Post and the District would distinguish the two.
