Person in burning vehicle after crash
A person was trapped inside of a vehicle on fire late Wednesday night after it crashed over an embankment in Southeast Washington, authorities said. D.C. Fire and Emergency Services units responded to an area near I-295/South Capitol Street and Malcolm X Avenue and found a vehicle ablaze and over an embankment about 11:45 p.m., said spokesman Pete Piringer. Firefighters were working to put out the fire and remove the victim from the car just before midnight. Officials did not identify the victim but said that the person suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.
