Plane diverted after passenger tries to open door
An airplane flying from Dulles International Airport to Las Vegas has been diverted to Denver International Airport after a passenger tried to open a door on the plane while it was in flight.
DIA spokesman Jeff Green says that United Flight 223 was diverted to Denver at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, and police who met the plane at the gate took the passenger into custody.
Green said the police were interviewing the passenger Saturday night but did not know if the man would be charged.
United Airlines and the Denver police department did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press.

Too many of these people are surfacing and causing much consternation and anger among travellers, not knowing if they are terrorists or plain loonies. Do we have to tolerate this type of behaviour? To save the airlines money and time, the authorities should consider giving the stewards some form of martial arts training to apprehend and if need be, knock them out senseless and continue with the journey before handing them over to be charged for endangering the lives of others. This form of behaviour is truly getting out of hand nowadays.
