By Terri Rupar

(Updated 8:00 p.m.)

While the Associated Press has reported that a United Airlines plane was forced to return to Dulles International Airport shortly after takeoff after it sucked a large bird into the engine. This occurred around 4:30 p.m., and there were no injuries, the AP reported -- though one runway was closed briefly.

United Airlines told The Post that the cause of an engine problem had not been determined.
