Police investigate homicide in NE

By Terri Rupar

D.C. police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Thursday.

At about 12:45 a.m., police were called to the 200 block of Webster Street for a reported shooting. Police found Emmanuel Durant Jr., 19, in an alley behind the 200 block of Hawaii Avenue NE.

Durant, of the 200 block of Webster Street NE, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe Durant was shot on Webster Street and collapsed in the alley, a police spokesman said.

Police did not immediately identify a suspect or motive in either killing.

Early Thursday means Dec 31 after midnight. Most likely one of the last ones of 2009.
