Rabies alert issued for visitors to Accokeek farm
Prince George's County health officials issued a health alert late Saturday night for visitors to a Accokeek farm after a calf tested positive for rabies.
Test results came back late Saturday confirming a calf at the Hard Bargain Farm contracted rabies, probably after being bitten by a wild animal, said Dr. Donald Shell, health officer for the county. Officials want to alert people who visited the farm between Dec. 21 and Jan. 14 and had any contact with calves, Shell said.
About eight farm employees were instructed to be vaccinated for exposure to rabies, Shell said.
