Rally for fired caseworkers in Jacks case

Union leaders are calling on D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty to immediately reinstate three caseworkers who were fired after the bodies of four girls were found in their mother's rowhouse.

The union that represents the Child and Family Services Agency held a rally Tuesday after a labor board upheld an arbitrator's decision to reinstate the workers.

Geo Johnson, executive director of the union, says the employees are collectively owed as much as $300,000 in backpay.

He also wants Fenty to restore their full benefits and seniority, and remove references to disciplinary action from their personnel files.

Banita Jacks was found guilty last year of killing her four daughters in 2008. The social workers were fired for allegedly not adequately responding to a report of abuse months before the girls' bodies were discovered.
