It's generally bad news for bears when they start "encroaching" on urban areas (of course, the bears were there first, however long ago).
That said, it's a wonderful thing in my opinion that such magnificent animals continue to survive and, in a few places, stage minor come-backs.
Both Virginia and Maryland can and should substantially help the bears' cause by eliminating the states' horrendously antiquated bear hunting seasons.

The post implies that the deer and bear were there are the same time. If so, wouldn't the bear have attacked the deer? I think they were there at separate times - the deer footage is clearly at night, while the bear footage is lit by daylight.
I'm thinking maybe the bear footage is phony - spliced into the other footage.

Trash cans are absolute heaven for bears. No need to chase those pesky deer. This bear is here to stay until removed elsewhere. Elsewhere had better be 1,000 miles away; bears have been known to return hundreds of miles to the location of a good meal.

You are true city folk. Black bears do not eat deer. In fact, generally, black bears are vegetarians. Only in time of famine will black bears eat meat, and usually small animals like squirrels and mice.
Most other species of bear will eat meat.

habari2,
It's usually the deer that eat the bears. Deer also like human babies.

Bear Stakes, Sarah Palin, I get it. How long did it take you to come up with that?
