Rescued horse must be euthanized

By Washington Post editors

A Garrett County Humane Society official says one of 26 starving horses seized from a Western Maryland farm last month must be euthanized to end its suffering.

Volunteer investigator Deb Clatterbuck said Tuesday that the other horses and about two dozen goats and cattle are recovering at horse and livestock rescue operations.

Clatterbuck says local Humane Society officials expect to file charges by Friday against the owner of the farm near Gorman.

The Humane Society took possession of the animals May 13.

I hope the farm owners rot in jail for a very long time. There is no excuse for letting a horse starve to death.
