Serious crashes leave 2 dead, 3 hurt

By Washington Post Editors

Two serious crashes in Prince George’s County Saturday night and early Sunday morning left two people dead and a third in critical condition, authorities said.

Details on each of the crashes were scant. At about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, three pedestrians were struck in a hit-and-run crash near Marlboro Pike and Kirtland Avenue in the District Heights area, and at least one of them was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, said Officer Evan Baxter, a spokesman for the Prince George’s County Police Department. He said he did not know the conditions of the other two victims or any other details about the crash.

Several hours later, about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, two people were killed in a collision that left one vehicle overturned and on fire near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Piney Branch Road in the Adelphi Area, police said. The circumstances of that crash, too, remain unclear, Baxter said.

There's a special place in he11 for the drivers who leave the scene of a crash. Sure hope those pedestrians all make it.
