Suspect in motel rape arrested
Montgomery County police say an off-duty detective investigating a rape spotted the suspect’s vehicle, with its distinctive rims and muffler, broken down on a highway, according to the Associated Press.
Twenty-three-year-old Luis Manuel Rivera of Gaithersburg was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree rape and other offenses.
The rape occurred on Oct. 29 at the Motel 6 in Gaithersburg. Police said a 24-year-old woman was cleaning a room at the hotel. She left the room’s door open and police say she heard the door slam before seeing a man inside the room with her.
She told police the man sexually assaulted her in the room.
Surveillance video showed the suspect’s vehicle entering and leaving the hotel parking lot.
On Christmas Eve, Detective Larry Haley, the lead investigator, spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s car broken down on I-270.

I wish his name (Luis Manuel Rivera) was not given, what's next WAPO letting us know his immigration status. This is unfair to thousands of latino criminals and gang members. Get a clue.
