Thousands without power
Pepco says more than 5,000 customers are without power as downpours move through the region. Latest figures show 1,500 customers in the District, almost 2,400 in Montgomery County and 1,100 in Prince George's County are waiting for power to be restored.
In Northern Virginia, Dominion says more than 12,000 customers are in the dark.
The Capital Weather Gang's latest forecast says most of the several weather should move out of the region later this morning.
