Metro's Farragut North station reopens
The Farragut North Metro station reopened Thursday morning after closing Wednesday when concrete fell through a ceiling tile in the roof of the underground tunnel.
Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said technIcal difficulties were preventing Metro from posting the information about the reopening on its Web site.
Authorities closed the station on the Red Line Wednesday night after construction work outside the station, unrelated to Metro, caused pieces of concrete to fall from the ceiling and onto the platform near Track 2 on the Connecticut Avenue and L Street side of the station. The incident happened between 3 and 4 p.m. No injuries were reported.
“While we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, we are proceeding with an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our passengers, employees and facilities,” Metro said in a statement last night.
