K Street reopened after accident
UPDATE, 4:40 p.m.
As of 4:36 p.m., authorities report that all lanes of K Street NW have been reopened.
UPDATE, 3:15 p.m.
Five people were taken to area hospitals Tuesday after several cars, including two cabs, and a bus crashed in downtown D.C., officials said.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said that shortly after 1:30 p.m., a cabdriver heading eastbound on K Street NW had some sort of medical emergency. The driver hit another vehicle. Two other vehicles ended up in the westbound lane of K Street. And then one, or both, of those vehicles hit a Circulator bus, Piringer said.
A Department of Homeland Security officer was leaving a building on K St NW, ran to the cab, and found the driver unconscious. He gave first aid until emergency responders arrived, Piringer said.
The cabdriver was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Four other people were taken to hospitals and five others were evaluated for head and neck injuries but declined to go to the hospital.
All those injured appeared to be adults, Piringer said.

DC bus drivers are among the worst drivers ever. They don't obey the rules of the road, stop wherever the heck they feel like it, cut into traffic, and generally serve to set back the image of public transportation generally. Oh, and they're overpaid.
