Traffic delays in Howard County
Howard County police are warning drivers of possible delays today because of a funeral procession for a Montgomery County police officer killed in the line of duty.
Officer Hector Ayala, 31, was killed April 4 when his police car ran off the road and struck a tree in Wheaton. He is survived by a 14-month-old son and a wife who is pregnant with triplets. A memorial fund has been established for the family.
The procession is expected to delay traffic from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today on Maryland 97 north from the Howard County line to Interstate 70 and on I-70 eastbound from Maryland 97 to the Baltimore County line.
