Traffic headaches for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Metro Police say Martin Luther Jr. King Day events on Monday will affect traffic in a number of locations.
A peace walk is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. The walk starts in the 2500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, heads south on South Capitol St. and ends at the Covenant Baptist Church in the 3800 block of South Capitol St.
A procession for a wreath laying ceremony will start at 12:30 p.m. at the 10th Street Baptist Church at 11th and R Streets, NW. The procession heads north on 11th St. to Vermont Avenue, NW before turning northeast on Vermont Avenue and ending at 2 p.m. at the African-American Civil War Memorial.
An event at the Martin Luther King Jr. Public Library will also close the 900 block of G St. NW from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
