Traffic shift planned on Norbeck Road

By Washington Post editors

Officials say Montgomery County drivers should be aware that Saturday, the State Highway Administration will be shifting traffic on Maryland 28 -- Norbeck Road between Baileys Lane and Wintergate Drive.

The switch to a temporary road is designed to allow construction of a permanent bridge over the Intercounty Connector. As part of the change, the existing intersection of MD 28 and Wintergate Drive will shift south and will include a temporary traffic signal.

Crews will begin work on the traffic shift at 8 a.m. Barrier walls, temporary crash cushions, barrels, guardrails, temporary traffic signs and variable message boards will alert and guide motorists through the area. Work is slated to end at 8 p.m.
