By Washington Post editors

The Post's Matt Zapotosky reports on the Crime Scene blog that a former Prince George’s County police chief and Maryland State Police superintendent will take over as police chief and public safety director at the University of Maryland.

The school announced Wednesday that David B. Mitchell, who worked more than 24 years with the Prince George’s police, will lead a force of more than 150 officers and support staff, the university said in a news release. He will officially take over the job June 7.
